The need for a professional website becomes more and more important as an online existence has now surpassed a physical one. Most individuals, artists, galleries and companies will contact you online before a physical meet.
To make my website, I started with Wix. It's free, it's easy and looks decent. I will eventually produce my own bespoke website, without using templates, but for right now, this is what I need.
In 2 workshops with Pauline and Michael (tutors), I researched:
- artists' websites that I admire
- website making software
- templates for basic websites
- domains (free and paid)
- linking social media to a website
As I started making my website, I used a template on Wix and edited it to cater to my needs.
For example, I added a 'works' page for all my artwork, a 'media' page for artwork broken down into media, a 'projects' page for my recent themed projects, a 'blog' and a 'contact' page.
I also attached my Instagram and Vimeo profiles in the top right as simple click buttons.
