We then needed a method of locating the work in the gallery in the press release so it would be easy for viewers to follow as they walk the gallery.
For this, we came up with a few ways of presenting this. It was our goal to have a very formal Press Release, and so we planned to have pages printed with 12 boxes to a page, each containing a quality colour photograph of the work and the information about the piece displayed below it. Inspired by this:
We decided, however, that practically this would not work as we would need all the art to be up in time (realistically will not happen) to take photos of each piece the night before the Private View. We'd need to print: (40 artists x 2 pieces each = ) 80 artworks, (80 artworks / 12 artworks per page = ) 7 pages, (7 pages + 1 page floor plan + 1 page cover photo = ) 9 pages for PR, (9 pages per PR x 80 copies = ) way too much money and paper wastage!
